FWTS ### Chapter 144: The Comic Version of "Nine Heavens"

“No problem at all!” Hua Shao responded eagerly. “If it were something else, I'd probably take the chance to make you write me a song. But this? It’s right up my alley, so I won’t make any outrageous demands! We all work so hard, not just to achieve our dreams or get revenge, but to make sure our families live well and our friends and loved ones aren’t ashamed to know us!”

Hou Muyun laughed heartily, “Why does that sound so familiar? I used to brag about working hard enough to be someone my friends and family could boast about!”

“I thought I was being corny, but you just took it to another level!”

“Great art often comes from the simplest truths! By the way, what’s this about you wanting me to write you a song? You don’t even sing!”

“None of your business. I might want it for someone else.”

“Fair enough, since you’re not making any unreasonable demands.”

“Speaking of which, you sure left it until the last minute to tell me about this wedding. It’s tomorrow! I’ll have to swing by the set for about an hour, then I’ll head straight to Ruicheng with you. We’ll need to go over the ceremony details with the bride and groom.”

Hua Shao had hosted plenty of weddings, mostly for celebrities or wealthy individuals, so he was confident in his abilities. But he didn’t know the specifics of Hou Muyun’s friend’s wedding or the customs in Ruicheng, so he wanted to be well-prepared. This showed his dedication.

Hou Muyun nodded, “That would be great!”

As Hua Shao was about to leave, he paused, “What about other things? Do you need a photographer or anything?”

Hou Muyun appreciated the thought, “A good photographer would be perfect. Other than that, everything should be taken care of.”

About an hour later, Hua Shao and Hou Muyun were in the car driven by Fei Ning, heading to Ruicheng. Another car followed with a photographer, a makeup artist, and Hua Shao’s assistant.

“Wow!” Hua Shao exclaimed, looking at the car behind them. “You’ve got quite the taste in cars.”

Hou Muyun chuckled, “Keeping it low-key!”

An hour later, Tai Ran and his fiancée met Hua Shao and were stunned. Hou Muyun had called Tai Ran earlier to tell him that he had found a wedding host but hadn’t mentioned it would be Hua Shao.

...

On January 15th, the 18th day of the lunar month, an auspicious day for marriage, Hou Muyun, Sanjin, Dafeng, and others arrived at Tai Ran’s house early in the morning—though they knew Fei Ning, they didn’t have a personal relationship with him.

At around 7 AM, the auspicious time, they set out to pick up the bride. After overcoming numerous challenges set by the bride’s friends, they managed to bring her back to the groom’s house before the second auspicious time. There were various traditional customs to follow, and once they were completed, the bride and groom went together to the bride’s house to bring back important family members and friends. After spending some time there, they headed to the hotel around 11 AM.

Both Tai Ran and his fiancée came from well-off families and were proud and ambitious. The wedding banquet was held at the best hotel in Ruicheng, with a large guest list and an impressive setup. While it couldn’t be called a lavish wedding, it was certainly very well done.

Hua Shao’s presence as the wedding host undoubtedly elevated the wedding’s status, making it comparable to a lavish event. If his hosting fee were included, it would indeed be considered a luxury wedding. Hua Shao’s fees were among the highest in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and he was highly regarded nationwide, rarely accepting invitations from just anyone.

With extensive experience in hosting weddings, Hua Shao expertly managed the event, keeping the atmosphere lively while maintaining the ceremony’s sacred and solemn feel. Everyone felt honored— the bride and groom, their families, and all the guests.

"End of the ceremony!"

The wedding ceremony concluded, and the banquet began.

With the ceremony completed, Hua Shao's duties were also done.

Hua Shao, being thoughtful, raised his glass to toast the bride and groom and the main table before leaving.

The bride and groom escorted him out, with Hou Muyun naturally following.

Tai Ran pushed a red envelope into Hua Shao's hand, "Hua Shao, thank you so much for today. I know… well, Hou… let’s just say this red envelope is a small token from us, a gesture of good fortune. You must accept it!"

Before Tai Ran could finish, Hua Shao accepted the envelope with a smile, "This is a lucky envelope, of course, I'll take it! You both have a lot of guests to attend to, don’t worry about me."

Hou Muyun saw Hua Shao downstairs, where his assistant was already waiting. The photographer and makeup artist would stay until the wedding was completely over and then have a special car arranged to take them back.

Hou Muyun returned to the “classmates’ table,” where everyone was eyeing him hungrily, making their intentions clear.

Hou Muyun pointed at Sanjin and Dafeng, who were looking at him the most fiercely, and laughed, "You two almost have 'let's see what you do when we get married' written on your faces. So, when are you two going to find someone?"

The two of them instantly deflated, and the rest of the group burst into laughter.

They all knew well enough that they weren't close enough to Hou Muyun to ask him to get Hua Shao to host their weddings. After all, when they heard about Hou Muyun’s family troubles, none of them offered help or even reached out to check on him.

...

For the next two days, Hou Muyun settled back into his routine of writing and drawing in the mornings and reading in the afternoons. Additionally, the comic adaptation of "Nine Heavens" was completed and the first chapter was released on the 17th as scheduled.

Since the novel "Nine Heavens" was still in its early stages with limited daily updates, the plot progression was slow. Consequently, the comic's updates couldn't outpace the novel; at most, they would be synchronized.

On the first day the comic version of "Nine Heavens" was uploaded, it garnered over 300,000 bookmarks, causing a stir in the comic community. The achievement was not just in the numbers but also in the quality of the comic itself.

Clearly, the comic adaptation of "Nine Heavens" was more mature compared to "The Lord of Xuan Yuan Sword." Its artwork, style, and paneling were all superior.

Since the release of the new book "Nine Heavens," it had firmly occupied the top spot on the new book chart, click chart, and recommendation chart. On the first day, it even topped the bestseller list.

Additionally, "Nine Heavens" immediately surged to the third place on the novel index ranking, with "The Lord of Xuan Yuan Sword" unsurprisingly holding the first place, and "Sword Master Gaiden" taking the second.

Despite being a side story, "Sword Master Gaiden" had a significant impact.

In other words, Hou Muyun's books occupied the top three spots on the novel index ranking, overshadowing even the currently popular TV adaptations of several novels.

On the 18th, Hou Muyun packed his things and headed to Shanghai. He had a few tasks: preparing for his studio’s opening, visiting Sunny Film Company, and stopping by Qiyue.

Someone had contacted Hou Muyun through Qiyue to discuss the overseas serialization of the "Nine Heavens" comic!
