DAEYTT ### Chapter 42: Would You Dare Respond If I Called You?
Wang Qian took a closer look at a few comments, confirming that he hadn't misunderstood them.
"Boss, Sophie wants to call you Dad. Will you accept?"
"Boss, come out and recognize your daughter."
"A major event in recognizing a father…"
"Boss, how do you feel about having a 22-year-old daughter?"
"Boss, upload 'Those Flowers' quickly. I can't wait to loop it."
"Boss, after listening to 'Those Flowers,' I found my first love’s number through five or six people. She's not doing well... I... I... I'm laughing so hard right now, hahaha…"
"Boss, I'm still in line at the store entrance. There are probably hundreds of people in front of me. It looks like I won't get to eat today. Luckily, I heard your new song outside, so it wasn't a total loss."
"The boss is really a fast shooter. How long has it been, and he's released five new songs! I really like 'Those Flowers.' It might hit the new song chart. Are the other artists on the chart scared?"
…
Sophie calling him Dad?
Wang Qian clicked on one of the video links and saw a clip clearly recorded from a live stream. In the video, Sophie was eating when she suddenly looked up and called out, "Dad..."
Then, her face turned red, and she buried her head in embarrassment. The video had voices calling out "Boss" repeatedly. Wang Qian realized it was when he had just come out of the office. At the time, he only heard people calling him "Boss" and didn’t pay attention to Sophie or her calling him Dad.
So, Sophie had misspoken?
Wang Qian chuckled, amused by internet celebrities trying to ride his coattails. Seeing them mess up was a big part of the fun. Feeling playful, he directly @ed Sophie on Weibo and posted a single word: "Good girl!"
Instantly, Weibo became even livelier. This post was immediately pushed to the top, receiving tens of thousands of likes, shares, and comments within minutes, most of which @ed Sophie.
"@Sophie, a major event in recognizing a father!"
"@Sophie, your dad is calling you."
"@Sophie, good girl!"
…
Meanwhile, Sophie left the restaurant after paying the bill. She interacted with her fans at the entrance for a while before quickly heading home. Her face looked a bit annoyed because, at the restaurant entrance, people were shouting, "Sophie, where’s your dad?"
That's why Sophie rushed home. Otherwise, she would have live-streamed longer to boost her popularity.
Back home, Sophie quickly logged onto Weibo to see how many people were still talking about it. As soon as she opened Weibo, she saw numerous @ notifications. Among them was one from someone she followed, which had a special system notification.
Typically, she would only pay special attention to messages from friends she followed. For ordinary fans, it depended on her mood; if she felt good, she'd casually browse and respond to a few, otherwise, she'd ignore them.
She clicked on the notification from someone she followed, which led to the message.
Qianqian Gentleman: "@Sophie, good girl!"
Good girl? What does that mean?
Sophie was puzzled but then checked the comments below Wang Qian's Weibo and instantly understood. Her face turned sour, and she wished she could punch Wang Qian in the face.
Taking advantage of me!
"Hmph!" She wanted to vent on Weibo but held back, quickly calming down to think.
A sly smile crept onto her lips...
Isn’t this a perfect opportunity for hype?
Hmph!
You want to take advantage of me?
I'll ride your wave...
Sophie noticed many similar comments under her own Weibo post. She then wrote: "@Qianqian Gentleman, it was a slip of the tongue! Boss, next time, if I call you that to your face, would you dare respond?"
If it's hype you want, let's do it.
As an internet celebrity, she wasn’t afraid. After all, this wasn’t a real scandal, and most of the people stirring the pot were just teasing, many of whom were her own fans. These people were experts at stirring things up; many internet memes originated from them.
Comments started flooding back and forth between her and Wang Qian, who quickly responded with two words this time: "I wouldn't dare!"
Sophie laughed, imagining Wang Qian's sheepish expression, and smugly typed back: "Hmph, next time I'll eat for free…"
### Chapter 42: Would You Dare Respond If I Called You?
Wang Qian responded with two more words.
Qianqian Gentleman: "No way!"
Sophie became more interested, feeling like she was having a face-to-face conversation with Wang Qian, and she replied in a playful tone: "I don't care..."
She didn't even bother to look at the comments; her eyes were glued to Wang Qian's Weibo, waiting for his reply. However, minutes passed without any response.
Sophie pouted and angrily said, "Jerk!"
...
If Wang Qian knew Sophie was calling him a jerk, he would feel immensely wronged. In his entire life, he had been a model gentleman—no smoking, no drinking, and wholly dedicated to his career. Even during years of separation from his ex-wife, he never once cheated. He was the epitome of a good man!
Wang Qian saw Sophie's reply but had no interest in continuing the public conversation on Weibo. He wasn't going to indulge her attempts to ride his coattails.
Just after finishing his shower, his phone rang. It was Qin Xuerong.
Wang Qian answered, and Qin Xuerong asked directly, "Wang Qian, Jiang Jiang and Aunt He have arrived. Are you free tomorrow?"
Wang Qian thought for a moment, "I plan to go to the recording studio tomorrow to record some songs. Jiang Yu can help with the accompaniment..."
A soft, slightly magnetic voice came from the phone, "Xue’er, tell him that Jiang Jiang and I will come to see him tomorrow."
Qin Xuerong said, "Alright, I'll bring Jiang Jiang and Auntie to the recording studio to see you tomorrow."
Wang Qian replied, "No problem!"
Qin Xuerong's voice became softer, "Rest early, goodnight."
Then she hung up.
Wang Qian put down the phone and browsed Weibo again, noticing that director Zhao Lei had @ed him.
Curious, he checked Zhao Lei's Weibo and saw that Zhao had been promoting his movie "Nameless Life." Zhao's recent posts were mostly about the movie, and many mentioned Wang Qian and his two songs, "Ordinary Road" and "The You of the Past," which he hadn't noticed due to his busy schedule.
Perhaps this was why his songs' metrics had steadily increased despite the lack of promotional resources.
"Director Zhao Lei's movie 'Nameless Life' will be released this Friday. Thank you to the main creators @Liu Jifeng @Yang Shan... Special thanks to @Qianqian Gentleman for the two songs, 'Ordinary Road' and 'The You of the Past,' which enriched the emotional depth of my work..."
In the long list of acknowledgments, Wang Qian and his songs were mentioned, though not prominently.
Wang Qian replied, "Director Zhao, thank you! I'm glad I could help!"
He glanced through the many comments below Zhao's post. Among the sparse mentions of him and his songs, most were quickly buried by discussions about the actors and Zhao Lei himself.
"Director Zhao is transitioning from TV to film. Congratulations and best wishes for a big box office hit."
"Still focusing on urban romance? Continuing the TV style? I'm not optimistic..."
"I'll watch it for Liu Jifeng. Among the young actors today, he's one of the few with real talent."
Wang Qian's reply didn't garner much attention except from his own fans.
Many fans on his Weibo expressed their concern:
"Boss, your two songs are in Director Zhao's movie?"
"Haha, congrats, Boss, for breaking into the big screen. When will you become the lead actor?"
"At your age, Boss, you should be a director."
"Congratulations, Boss..."
Wang Qian checked the date.
The day after tomorrow is Friday?
Time flies.
Feeling exhausted, he decided to wash up and go to bed.
