FWTS Chapter 124: Composing Music for Classical Chinese Poetry
The assistant walked into the room and, upon seeing Chu Qing's expression, shrank his neck slightly. He thought to himself, "Those dark circles are heavy. What’s going on? Didn't sleep well, or hasn’t slept since last night? But it's already noon!"
"She's actually gone to Shenzhen."
Chu Qing muttered to herself. Seeing the assistant come in, she said, "Book a ticket, we're heading back to Shanghai immediately."
Last night, Chu Qing read the entire script in one go, taking over ten hours. After finishing, she called Hou Muyun and found out he had already gone to Shenzhen. She decided to calm down and not chase after him. She planned to return to her company in Shanghai to discuss matters with her team.
The assistant asked, "What about Bai Xue's studio?"
Chu Qing replied, "She has an event in Shanghai in a few days. We'll discuss it then."
...
Little Fatty was very excited but tried hard to contain it, reminding himself to be a competent celebrity assistant and to maintain a demeanor befitting someone who's seen big events.
Hou Muyun and Shi Fifteen went to discuss arranging the music with the band, leaving Little Fatty and Pineapple behind. Pineapple glanced at Little Fatty and then at the people rehearsing on stage. He elbowed Little Fatty and asked with a smile, "What's up? You like 'Running Man'? Who's your favorite?"
Little Fatty grinned foolishly, "Looks are justice!"
Pineapple stood up, "Come on, I'll take you for a photo."
Little Fatty's small eyes widened, "Really?"
Seeing Pineapple already walking over, Little Fatty quickly followed!
...
Hou Muyun quickly completed the arrangements for his duet with Shi Fifteen, his solo, Shi Fifteen's three solos, and also arranged the duet song for Ami and the captain of 'Running Man'. A total of six songs were done quickly, and they soon began rehearsing and then went straight to the dress rehearsal.
"Monkey."
After the rehearsal, Hou Muyun, Shi Fifteen, Little Fatty, and others returned to the hotel. Shi Fifteen curiously asked, "Did Chu Qing find you last night?"
Hou Muyun nodded, "You know too?"
Shi Fifteen said, "I called Zhang Er yesterday to congratulate on the successful concert and asked where you were. They said you left with Chu Qing. What did she want? Was that woman in the fight video really her? Did the heroine from the heroic rescue video come to meet the hero?"
Hou Muyun shrugged, "Come on, isn't she known as a heroine? It's not related to the fight video. She came to talk about cooperation. My novel is about to be completed, and many people want to buy the film adaptation rights. I’m afraid it will be ruined, so I made some demands that weren't accepted. Finally, I made a bet with Qiyue to form my own team for the filming, to control the final product. Chu Qing has a film company, and she probably heard about it. She found me at the concert to discuss it."
"You’re forming your own team for the filming?"
Shi Fifteen was a bit speechless, "You really have guts! So, what happened? How did the discussion go?"
Hou Muyun said, "No result yet. By the way, do you know anyone in the film industry? Introduce them to me. I can't rely on just one person."
Shi Fifteen spread his hands, "I don’t know anyone in the film industry, at most some MV directors. I'll help you ask around. Hey, should we ask Principal Wang about this?"
Hou Muyun joked, "Better not. He even criticizes movies his family invests in. I doubt he has good connections in the film industry."
Shi Fifteen laughed, "That's true, but I'll still ask him. He might not have good connections, but he surely knows people. We’re meeting him in Shanghai the day after tomorrow. Do you want to come?"
Hou Muyun thought for a moment, "You mention it first. If I go, it might be hard to say."
Shi Fifteen joked, "You’re afraid of being forced to sign a contract, right?"
Hou Muyun nodded seriously.
Back at the hotel, Hou Muyun started writing and drawing, then went live at around 8 PM.
Recently, his live streaming schedule had been quite erratic, but with advance notice, the number of viewers hadn’t dropped, remaining stable between 8-10 million, occasionally reaching over 10 million during prime time.
"I’ve been busy lately, so I haven’t posted anything new for a while. I apologize for that. After the New Year, I promise to bring you something new. Oh, and a heads up: I'll be performing at Blue Whale TV's New Year’s Eve show tomorrow night. We just finished rehearsing today. I'll be singing, so tune in on TV or online to support me."
"Also, TT Live and Blue Whale TV are collaborating on the New Year's Eve show, so the live stream will be available in my streaming room. You can join the fun in the comments. After my performance, I’ll take over the stream, and we’ll countdown to the New Year together!"
"Preview over, let’s start the stream."
"Today, though I don't have anything new, it will be a bit different. I know many of you are waiting for my next song since the last one was released. But writing songs isn’t that easy, I need to put in more effort. However, I've learned composing and songwriting, and although I can’t write a complete song yet, I've tried some new things. I've composed music for some ancient poems and also rewritten the lyrics to some classic melodies."
Hou Muyun picked up his guitar, "I’ve always loved 'Drinking Alone by Moonlight'. It’s said that this poem originally had a tune from the Han Dynasty music bureau, a short xiao niao song. The original tune is lost, at least I couldn’t find it after extensive research. This is similar to many ci poems; they originally had tunes but now only the text and format remain."
"Many people say the Chinese nation lacks a music gene. Actually, I think it’s because our language is so powerful that it can record everything, replacing many functions that music used to have in recording language, history, and stories. I believe our ancestors had exhilarating lives filled with singing and dancing! Ahem, I digress. I composed a tune for 'Drinking Alone by Moonlight'. The tune can't compare to the words, but I hope you enjoy the novelty."
Hou Muyun strummed the guitar, producing a majestic and free-spirited melody, exuding confidence and arrogance, as if a mighty wind and sea were approaching, catching the audience in the live stream by surprise.
"Don't you see!"
After the prelude, Hou Muyun's voice, full of heroic spirit, resonated, "Don't you see, the Yellow River's waters coming from heaven!"
Suddenly, his voice and the melody changed, "Flowing~~~ towards that vast colorful sea! Fiery love songs..."
The viewers were dumbfounded.
Hou Muyun stopped, "Sorry, sorry, got it wrong, let’s start over!"
"Start over, my foot!"
"Are you crazy?"
"I was all set, and you give me this!"
"Bastard, I can't remember the original line now!"
"Me neither!"
"Bastard, doing this again! Never get tired of it, do you?"
"I'm out, not watching this, hurts my pride!"
"Everyone leave with me, make his viewer count drop to zero, see if he still dares to act up!"
"Let's go, let's go!"
"Hey, you guys should really leave. Why is the viewer count increasing instead? You guys are just indulging him!"
