AFVSIBS ### Chapter 181: If You Can't Sing "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau," I Will

While Wan Fangfang was chatting with Zhou Chen, Wu Heng returned to the practice room and immediately posted on Weibo.

In his Weibo post, he wrote: "Family, thank you for your support. From now on, I will no longer sing trivial songs. I will sing different songs to show you a different side of me."

"Go for it, Heng Ge! I believe in you; you're the best. No matter what you sing, I'll support you."

"I started following Heng Ge after hearing him sing 'Little Apple.' Honestly, I liked his rendition of 'Little Apple.' Later, he sang 'Desert Camel,' which was also good. For me, it doesn't matter what song he sings as long as it's good music."

"Heng Ge must have seen those online trolls calling him the 'King of Trivial Songs,' so he decided to stop singing such songs, right? There's no need to pay attention to those trolls. You became famous after your first variety show; naturally, those trolls are just jealous."

"Yes! I also think Heng Ge cares too much about others' opinions. With our support, what are you afraid of? Sing whatever you want without worrying about others' views."

...

Wu Heng’s fans were more clear-headed than he was, but Wu Heng was determined to prove himself. Fueled by Wang Yifan's words that day, he felt Zhou Chen was deliberately targeting him and looking down on him, which made him more resolute to prove himself.

Wan Fangfang felt there was more to this situation, so after talking with Zhou Chen, she went to see Wu Heng. In their conversation, she learned that Wang Yifan was also involved, which made her furious. As Wang Yifan was not her artist, she went to Li Qiankun and informed him of the situation.

"What! Wang Yifan actually said Zhou Chen was jealous of Wu Heng and wrote trivial songs for him out of spite?" Li Qiankun was surprised.

"Yes! I talked to Wu Heng, and he said Wang Yifan told him that. Wang Yifan must be jealous of Zhou Chen’s abundant resources and success, so he’s stirring up trouble between Wu Heng and Zhou Chen," Wan Fangfang asserted.

"That’s possible. However, we can’t punish Wang Yifan too harshly for this small matter. I’ll have his manager come over and talk to him. If this happens again, I won’t be so lenient," Li Qiankun said, siding with Zhou Chen, who was more talented and influential than Wang Yifan.

"Thank you, Assistant Li. If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going."

"Wait. Zhou Chen recently wrote a song called 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.' Have him record it and upload it to the music platform. This will also show Wu Heng the difference in their abilities," Li Qiankun suggested.

"I almost forgot about that. I’ll go tell him now," Wan Fangfang replied and then left.

Zhou Chen had planned to record "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" and upload it today, but Wu Heng's disruption had delayed him. With Wan Fangfang's reminder, he headed to the recording studio.

"Zhou Chen, from now on, this recording studio is exclusively for you. You’ll have a private recording studio," Wan Fangfang announced.

According to company rules, Wanhe's trainees weren't allowed private recording studios, and Zhou Chen had always shared with others. He would record when the studio was free. Now, Wan Fangfang had secured a private studio for him, giving him the star treatment.

"Thank you, Fangfang Jie. Let’s get started," Zhou Chen said simply, and they began recording "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau."

First, Zhou Chen sang the song for the music director to hear and see if any improvements were needed.

"Zhou Chen, your 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau' is fantastic. It's full of ethnic flavor, and your handling of the high notes is superb. I’m really impressed," the music director praised him.

"Yes, I agree. This song showcases Zhou Chen’s talent perfectly. No wonder Wu Heng couldn’t handle it; this song isn’t for ordinary singers," Wan Fangfang added, equally impressed.

"Thank you both. Are there any improvements needed for 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau'?" Zhou Chen asked humbly.

"No, not at all. From my perspective, the song has no flaws. I think keeping it as it is would be perfect," the music director affirmed.

"I’m just a manager; I don’t understand music. So, trust the music director's judgment," Wan Fangfang said with a smile.

"Alright, no changes then," Zhou Chen agreed, satisfied that the music director found no issues. He knew the song was already proven on Earth, and any suggested changes might ruin it. The lack of criticism from the music director validated his skill.

They continued recording "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" in the studio, finishing just before the end of the workday.

"Zhou Chen, sometimes you don’t seem lazy at all, but other times, you appear to be," Wan Fangfang joked.

"Uh, why do you say that, Fangfang Jie?"

"Because of your attitude toward recording songs. Take 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau'—the music director said it was fine, but you still recorded many takes. That’s not like a lazy person," Wan Fangfang explained.

"Oh, you mean that. Being lazy doesn’t mean doing nothing or being sloppy. When it comes to releasing songs for fans to pay and download, being too casual would be irresponsible. It would be like scamming fans," Zhou Chen explained.

Wan Fangfang was very pleased with Zhou Chen's explanation. Nodding and giving him a thumbs-up, she said, "Good job. We need more of this attitude. It’d be great if you approached everything this way."

"Fangfang Jie, you misunderstand me. I do approach most things this way, as long as it doesn’t interfere with my early to bed, early to rise routine," Zhou Chen corrected her.

"Alright, alright! Whatever you say. I won’t keep you from leaving on time. I still have to work late to prepare your song 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau' for release on the Penguin Music platform," Wan Fangfang said with a smile, about to leave, then turned back and added, "Oh, I almost forgot to remind you—don’t forget to post on Weibo about the release of 'Qinghai-Tibet Plateau' at 8 PM tonight."
