AFVSIBS Chapter 173: Jiang Lin and Lu Jie Cause Resentment Among the Program Team

Jiang Lin was very confident about his creation "I Really Don't Care," believing it would undoubtedly defeat Zhou Chen's "Cramming at the Last Minute."

After all, this song was a masterpiece he had co-written with his mentor, Huang Shanwen. He couldn't believe it would lose to Zhou Chen's catchy songs.

Seeing Jiang Lin's confidence, Lu Jie nodded and chose to believe him.

While the two were talking, "Our Music" officially began.

Initially, the ratings weren't very high, hovering around 1.7 to 2.0.

After all, most people were tuning in for Zhou Chen and Wu Heng, so the other artists didn't attract much attention.

However, as time passed, the ratings slowly climbed to 3.0.

The reason was simple: as time moved forward, it meant Zhou Chen and Wu Heng's performance was approaching.

"Wu Heng, Lu Jie, you two should get ready. You'll be up soon. Lu Jie will go first, then Wu Heng," a staff member came over and reminded them.

"No way, I want to go last. I want to be the finale," Lu Jie suddenly voiced his desire.

This put the staff member in a difficult position. Changing the performance order at the last minute was troublesome, especially with only three to five minutes before the performance started.

"Lu Jie, you're going too far! Last time, you insisted on performing last, and now you're doing it again. What do you want?" Wu Heng immediately snapped.

"That's none of your business. Anyway, I refuse to let a trainee like you have the final spot," Lu Jie said arrogantly.

"Alright, stop arguing. We only have three to five minutes left. I think we should stick to the original order. After all, it's a head-to-head PK. What difference does it make who performs first?" Zhao Liang quickly intervened, trying to mediate.

Just in the previous chapter, he was relieved there wouldn't be any arguments about the performance order tonight. Yet, in this chapter, he was proven wrong.

He began to have a poor opinion of Lu Jie and his team. Every time, they only raised objections at the last minute.

"That's unacceptable. Why should he, a trainee, get the final spot?" Lu Jie, despite Zhao Liang giving him a way out, wasn't satisfied.

"Exactly! I disagree too. Lu Jie is a top-tier star, while Wu Heng is just a trainee participating in his first reality show. I don't agree with him being the finale either," Jiang Lin chimed in, siding with Lu Jie.

"Wu Heng, let them have the final spot," Zhou Chen pulled Wu Heng back before he could argue further.

"Fine, it's decided then. Time is short, Xiaoxue, notify the staff and the host to change the performance order," Zhao Liang, although angry, decided it wasn't the right time to lose his temper given the tight schedule.

Seeing that Zhou Chen could manage Wu Heng, Zhao Liang quickly finalized the order to prevent further changes.

"Wu Heng, don't be upset. Once we finish singing, the ratings will drop, and their loss will be even more humiliating," Zhou Chen consoled Wu Heng.

Zhou Chen wasn't oblivious. If Wu Heng were to perform last, the ratings would stay high until the end. If Wu Heng performed first, the ratings would likely drop when it was Lu Jie's turn, as had happened in the previous episode.

In other words, Lu Jie and his team thought performing last would prove their worth, but it only proved that Zhou Chen and Wu Heng were the ones drawing the audience.

Director Zhao Liang also foresaw that tonight's rating trend would mirror the previous episode's.

He felt helpless, but at least this was the last PK group, and the show was nearing its end.

"Director Zhao, Jiang Lin and Lu Jie are infuriating! Last time they changed the order last minute, and they're doing it again," a staff member expressed their dissatisfaction.

"Yes, they're annoying, but with time being tight, we can't afford to argue with them now. If all goes well, they'll be eliminated tonight, and we won't have to deal with this in the next episode," Zhao Liang said.

"I hope they get eliminated soon. They always cause trouble for our program. I'm sick of them."

Clearly, Jiang Lin and Lu Jie's actions had greatly annoyed the staff of "Our Music," who were now rooting for Zhou Chen and Wu Heng to eliminate them.

"Next, let's warmly welcome our next performers, Zhou Chen and Wu Heng. Applause, please!"

Soon, the host announced Zhou Chen and Wu Heng's turn.

Amidst applause, the two slowly walked onto the stage.

Unlike the previous two episodes, Zhou Chen didn't need to hurry back to the guest artist seats but stayed on stage with Wu Heng for a brief interview.

Since the program team had informed Zhou Chen about these changes beforehand, he accepted them.

"Great, finally Zhou Chen and Wu Heng are on stage. I'm so looking forward to 'Cramming at the Last Minute.'"

"Me too. I haven't left the live broadcast room just to see Zhou Chen and Wu Heng perform. Finally, they're here."

"I thought they would perform last, but this order works too. I can go grab a late-night snack after listening to 'Cramming at the Last Minute.'"

"Same here. I took the night off just to hear Zhou Chen's new song."

...

Fans who had been waiting were thrilled to see Zhou Chen and Wu Heng on stage.

"Our Music" saw a sharp rise in ratings with their appearance.

"Zhou Chen, it's great to see you again. Since 'Cramming at the Last Minute' is your creation, let's start with you. Why did you choose this idiom as the song title?"

The host smiled and asked Zhou Chen.

This was a question many viewers were curious about since the song title was revealed.

"Because the content of the song is about cramming at the last minute, so there's no title more fitting than 'Cramming at the Last Minute,'" Zhou Chen replied.

This???

This???

Another divine response?

How am I supposed to continue with the interview?
